Skinny Bagels

Everything, Sesame, Black Sesame and Cinnamon Sugar Bagels

These bagels are the BOMB. A friend showed them to me about 3 years 7 ago and since then I’ve adapted the recipe to make dozens of combinations and flavors.

These babies are great for kids (and adults) as they have 10 grams of protein per bagel, and only 26 carbs and virtually no fat (woohoo! guilt free bagels!). I make these for myself and my family or friends almost every week. If you’re trying to live a healthy lifestyle, cut carbs or just want the smell of yummy fresh bagels in your kitchen, then these are for you!

Recipe makes 8 bagels:

Combine 2 cups flour  and 4 tsp baking powder with about 1/4 tsp salt in a mixing bowl (I highly recommend using a stand mixer w paddle or dough hook).

Add 2 cups 0% greek yogurt and mix til combined. Once a ball has formed (this dough is STICKY!) turn it out onto a floured working surface. Kneed the dough until somewhat  smooth and bouncy (you can press your finger down on the dough and it mostly rises back up). I use a silicone mat to do this part for easy cleanup.

preheat oven to 350°

Form the dough into a disk and cut into 8 wedges. Roll out each wedge into ropes about 1/2 inch in diameter (doesn’t have to be perfect) and connect the tails to make a ring (bagel shape!)

Place bagels on a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone mat, brush with egg wash and sprinkle with topping of choice (or nothing!). My favorites are cinnamon sugar, everything seasoning or sesame.

Bake for 40-45min, cool on a cooling rack and enjoy as an egg sandwich, with locks and capers or just with some plain old cream cheese!

Flavor variation ideas:  jalapeño cheddar, blue cheese, blueberry, zatar, or rainbow!

Enjoy
